Abstract

We present the "dashboard", a web-based grid monitoring application developed at CERN within the EGEE project. Its specificity lies in the fact it permits to integrate both standard grid middleware monitoring information and virtual organisation (VO) specific information (e.g. activities, input data, VO software running in the job, exit codes). This serves various use cases in the daily usage of the grid by a VO, ranging from managers to users and site admins. Most of the functionalities were put in place according to needs expressed by the high energy physics experiments at CERN. However the dashboard system is also running since a year for the VLEMED VO.

The first talk will describe the main functionalities of the dashboard system. We will briefly explain its architecture and then go through examples of usage in the case of the HEP experiments. The second part will be more technical since it is dedicated to implementation details of the system and we will focus in particular on the programming interface (API) that we developed to permit users to retrieve data from a program or to publish VO specific information in the system.

Benjamin Gaidioz is a software engineer in the CERN IT department. He is part of the EGEE project and mainly involved in the development of the grid job monitoring dashboard application (shown in the presentation) as well as monitoring activities in the ATLAS experiment.
